might be a walk to the local cafe. |

- enjoy the short ferry ride to
Rawene, another historic town. While there, visit Lise at Outpost Hokianga
for some eclectic gifts -
tour the Hokianga harbour with a local guide from Crossings Hokianga
- visit the Waipoua
Forest with its kauri trees and range
of different walks or even better,
contact Footprints Waipoua
and have a local guide show you the best of it - walk the
backroads of Kohukohu which offer some fantastic vistas -
take a historic walk through the village (brochure available)
- walk on remote Mitimiti beach
- visit local bone carver Ewan Morris. Ewan can help you make your
own carving. Ph 09 405-5802 to make a booking - see The
Wairere Boulders, a unique formation of basalt boulders not found
anywhere else in the world - catch a fish from the wharf, or
from the narrows pontoon - make a daytrip to the Bay of
Islands with Kerikeri only 55 minutes away - visit Ninety
Mile Beach, again only 55 minutes away - take the ferry to
Rawene and enjoy a stroll through this historic town - visit Marg
Morrow's photographic gallery in kohukohu - bring
the mountain bike and cycle the old road to Broadwood through
magnificent rural scenery
